Cyclades Islands

One of the many enchanting groups of islands surrounding Greece is the Cyclades group, so named because the islands form a cycle around the sacred land of Delos. The proximity of the islands to one another permits a relaxed sailing schedule, allowing more time for sightseeing and shopping.

Best known for their history, art, and civilization which dates back to the Bronze Age, the islands offer a stunning variety of scenic shores, unpsoiled beaches, local handicrafts, entertaiment, and diving.

Best for experienced sailors.

An archipelago of more than 30 islands, large and small stretching out to the south of Attica and Euboia, the Cyclades are the 'pearls' of the Aegean. White-washed houses, numerous blue-domed churches, small tavernas with local wine and food, picturesque fishing harbours, are considered the most typical part of Greece. Don't forget to stop in famous Mykonos with its white-washed buildings and trendy clubs. Sail south to Naxos, Ios and Paros, where you will pass in the shadows of white chalk cliffs. Paros is an island of plantations, palm trees and historic monasteries. Also be sure to check out the great beach cafιs. Naxos boasts of windmills, churches and the remnants of the Temple of Apollo.

Don't miss the opportunity to arrange a day trip to Santorini, often called the most beautiful island in the Aegean. Take a gondola up to the top for an unforgettable view. In Sifnos, anchor in the port with two charming cliffside villages. Sail to Serifos past a rocky coast cut with deep coves and great beaches. Here, you can walk among ancient stone formations that resemble human figures. Sail to Milos, Ios, Folegandros, Kythnos, each individual island surprises you with its own character and beauty, make your choice of itineraries unlimited.

Wind and Sailing Conditions

The prevailing wind in the summer is the so called "Meltemi", which comes from the North. The Meltemi peaks in the middle of July until end of August at force 5-7 and may occasionally reach force 9. During spring and autumn, you may also be facing winds blowing from the south. It is advised that for short charters (e.g. 7 days) the charterer should be aware in advance of the prevailing weather conditions since local winds in summer can reach force 8-9 and last for some days.
